Associating video with electronic journal transactions has never been more simple & secure.

Meet CSG’s Event to Video.  Save valuable time and resources for your institution in 3 easy steps.

Managing fraud investigations, dispute resolution, and compliance audits at financial institutions has historically been a time-consuming, resource-intensive process. Security teams and operations staff were often forced to manually correlate transaction data from an electronic journal against hours of surveillance footage — a tedious effort that slowed investigations, increased operational costs, and introduced room for human error.

CSG's Event to Video feature inside Cook Command Center changes that entirely. Now, your team can view electronic journal data and its correlated video footage side by side, in a single secure interface — no manual timestamp matching, no toggling between separate systems, and no wasted hours hunting through surveillance archives.

What Is an Electronic Journal — and Why Does It Matter?

An Electronic Journal (EJ) is a digital log automatically generated by ATMs, ITMs (Interactive Teller Machines), and TCRs (Teller Cash Recyclers). It captures a detailed, time-stamped record of every transaction processed at the device — including transaction type, card number (PAN), date and time, dispense amounts, sequence numbers, and error events.

Electronic journals are the backbone of ATM operations and fraud investigation. When a cardholder disputes a transaction, when a cash discrepancy is discovered, or when law enforcement requires evidence, the EJ is the first place investigators turn. The challenge has always been connecting what the EJ says happened with visual proof of what actually occurred at the machine — and doing so quickly.

Without a unified system, that process looked something like this: pull the EJ entry, note the timestamp, log into a separate video management system, scrub to the correct camera and time, and hope the footage hasn't been overwritten. Multiply that across dozens of ATMs or ITMs spread across multiple branches, and you're looking at a significant operational burden.

Event to Video: The Smarter Way to Investigate

CSG's Event to Video solution eliminates that friction by automatically linking each EJ transaction entry to its corresponding video clip — all within the Cook Command Center platform. The moment a transaction is logged in the electronic journal, the associated video is indexed and made accessible alongside it.

This isn't just a convenience feature. For financial institutions managing fraud exposure, regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency, it's a meaningful capability upgrade.

With Event to Video, your team can:

  • Immediately access video tied to any transaction — no manual timestamp correlation required
  • Speed up fraud and dispute investigations — what used to take hours can now take minutes
  • Reduce reliance on specialized surveillance staff for basic investigation tasks
  • Create cases directly from the interface, bundling EJ data and video evidence together in a single package for law enforcement or internal review
  • Access the platform securely from anywhere — Cook Command Center is browser-based, device-agnostic, and protected with enterprise-grade security

Viewing associated electronic journal video has never been so easy! No more correlating transactional data with accompanied surveillance, with event to video, view your electronic journal as well as transactional video all in one place.  Here is how it works…

Electronic Journals (EJ) + Correlated Video in 3 Steps

In 3 simple steps you have both EJ's and correlated videos at your fingertips.

  1. Log in to our centralized secure interface, Cook Command Center.
  2. Under RemoteView, open the ATM dropdown and navigate to Electronic Journals.
  3. Explore your EJ data & video in an extensive view with access to:
    • Transaction Type
    • Date / Time
    • Amount
    • PAN
    • Sequence Number

In 3 simple steps you have both EJ's and correlated videos at your fingertips.

  1. Log in to our centralized secure interface, Cook Command Center.
  2. Under our RemoteView Section you will see an ATM drop down click it and navigate to Electronic Journals section.
  3. From there you will have an extensive view where you have complete access to all your EJ information including Transaction Type, date/time, amount, PAN and sequence number.
Expand any individual transaction to instantly view receipt data and its correlated video clip — and if the situation warrants it, create a case with all supporting information attached. That case can then be shared with your compliance team, security department, or law enforcement directly from the platform.

Why This Matters for Fraud Investigation and Dispute Resolution

Financial institutions handle thousands of ATM and ITM transactions every day. Even with strong fraud prevention measures in place, disputes happen. Cards get skimmed. Cash discrepancies occur. Suspicious behavior needs to be investigated.

The faster your team can access correlated evidence, the faster those situations get resolved — and the less they cost you. Studies consistently show that the speed of investigation directly impacts recovery rates in fraud cases. When your operations team can pull up a transaction record and its accompanying video in under 60 seconds, investigations that previously took days can be resolved in an afternoon.

Beyond fraud, Event to Video supports a range of operational and compliance use cases:

  • Cash dispense disputes — Verify what the machine actually dispensed versus what was logged
  • Card retention events — Review video of card capture incidents for customer service purposes
  • Error and fault investigation — Correlate machine fault codes with video to diagnose hardware issues
  • Regulatory audit support — Provide auditors with a complete, time-stamped transaction and video record
  • Law enforcement requests — Quickly compile evidence packages when criminal activity is suspected

Part of a Broader Managed Services Ecosystem

Event to Video is one feature within CSG's broader RemoteView managed services platform — a suite of tools designed to give financial institutions centralized visibility and control over their entire ATM/ITM/TCR fleet.

RemoteView capabilities include real-time device status monitoring, remote diagnostics, electronic journal access, cash management reporting, and now, event-correlated video. All of it accessible from Cook Command Center, all of it backed by CSG's Network Operations Center with service hours extending from 5 AM to 10 PM PST, Monday through Sunday.
