Suspicious Activity Notification

ATM skimming continues to evolve, presenting significant challenges to banks and financial institutions. To address this persistent threat, the SAN-SCM (Suspicious Activity Notification-Smart Camera Module) integrates advanced Piko technology with ATM transactional data to provide real-time alerts of potential skimming attacks. By analyzing suspicious patterns and behaviors, SAN-SCM enables security teams to respond promptly to potential threats, reducing the risk of skimming and ensuring customer trust. Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing ATM infrastructure, SAN-SCM offers a proactive, data driven approach to ATM security.

Suspicious Activity Notification-Smart Camera Module

The Growing Threat of ATM Skimming.

ATM skimming involves capturing data from a card’s magnetic stripe, often using concealed devices that record card and PIN information. As criminals employ increasingly sophisticated methods, banks face millions of dollars in annual losses due to skimming. According to industry reports, skimming remains one of the most prevalent forms of ATM fraud, often undetected until significant losses occur. In this context, real-time detection solutions like SAN-SCM (Suspicious Activity Notification-Smart Camera Module) are crucial in countering sophisticated attacks and safeguarding assets.

Introduction to Suspicious Activity Notification-Smart Camera Module.

SAN-SCM is a specialized smart camera module mitigating potential skimming by analyzing live data from ATMs and ITMs. It combines high-definition video with transactional data from the ATM, using AI machine learning to detect suspicious activity patterns associated with skimming. By continuously monitoring activity at the ATM, SAN-SCM flags unusual behaviors and sends real-time alerts to our NOC (Network Operation Center) allowing them to investigate or intervene before an attack is successful.

Technical Overview

Technology Integration:

  • SAN-SCM integrates with PikoVIDEO to monitor video feeds from the ATM, leveraging analytics to detect specific patterns linked to skimming. By connecting with ATM transaction logs, SAN-SCM identifies inconsistencies may indicate fraudulent activity.

Notification System:

  • When SAN-SCM detects suspicious activity, it triggers an alert within PikoVIDEO’s interface, allowing NOC personnel to receive and act on the information. Notifications are tailored to prioritize high-risk alerts, ensuring that potential skimming incidents receive prompt attention.

System Requirements and Implementation

To ensure optimal performance, SAN-SCM requires a minimum of 3MB upload bandwidth per camera and integrates directly with PikoVIDEO. The module also supports connections to a RemoteView agent allowing us access to EJ’s on ATMs, while Security Plus and Windows Updates are part of the system requirements to maintain reliability and security. Installation is straightforward, with setup involving configuration within PikoVIDEO and calibration for the specific ATM environment.

SAN-SCM represents a leap forward in ATM security, offering banks and financial institutions a proactive, data driven approach to mitigating skimming attacks. By combining real-time video monitoring with intelligent pattern detection, SAN-SCM provides a critical layer of protection evolving with the threat landscape. For organizations aiming to safeguard their ATM infrastructure and build customer trust, SAN-SCM delivers a powerful, adaptable solution designed to meet the demands of modern banking security.
